frozen food applications with cost-effective alternative

Addison,
IL —September 10, 2001 —FlexForm™ B
formable web, from Rollprint Packaging Products, Inc.,
is now targeting frozen food applications as a more
cost-effective alternative.

FlexForm™ B
formable web is a thermoformable, blown film produced with
a proprietary polyolefin blend. The product competes against
polyamide- (nylon) and Surlyn®- (ethylene vinyl acetate/Surlyn®/ethylene
vinyl acetate) based products and offers several advantages.
The material
forms extremely well with a wide-operating window. It can
be run on most form-fill-seal thermoforming equipment.
Unlike nylon-based materials,
there is very little snap back or shrink in the blended film. FlexForm™ B
formable web is extremely tough and puncture-resistant with a uniform film
draw. As a result, down gauging from the standard bottom web films is possible
in many
thermoformed packaging applications. Further, it offers cost advantages
on a gauge-to-gauge basis over traditional forming webs.
FlexForm™ B formable web is suitable for a wide range of frozen food applications
including: poultry, meat, seafood, bakery, pizza, vegetables, fruits, bakery
goods, etc.
FlexForm™ B formable web had previously been launched
(spring 2001) for medical applications. The product performs
well in bottom-forming applications which are either ethylene
oxide (ETO) or gamma sterilized. Typical applications include:
wound dressings/gauze, surgical gloves, gowns and drapes, IV
tubing sets and catheters, suction catheters, syringes, suture
breather packs, drainage sets, guidewire assemblies, clamps/connectors
and pipettes.
